What to Expect

Before Your First Session

Before your first appointment, we’ll have a brief conversation by phone or message. This is a chance for you to ask questions, share any concerns, and get a sense of whether we’re a good fit. I want you to feel comfortable and informed before you ever step into the space.

You’ll receive a short intake form to complete ahead of time so we can focus on your session—not paperwork.

Arriving

Just Breathe Massage Therapy is a quiet, private, in-home practice. When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calm, uncluttered space designed to help you slow down and settle in.

There’s no rush. We’ll take a few minutes to check in, talk about how you’re feeling that day, and adjust the session based on what your body needs right now.

During the Session

Sessions are customized each time. I use a thoughtful blend of techniques—with slower, deliberate pressure as appropriate—to support relaxation, ease tension, and help your nervous system downshift.

You are always in control:

·You can ask for more or less pressure at any time

·You can ask questions or request silence

·You can stop or adjust anything during the session

Most clients undress to their comfort level. You will always be professionally draped.

After the Session

After your session, you’ll have time to re-orient before heading out. Many people describe feeling deeply relaxed, grounded, and a little “floaty”—like their body finally exhaled.

I may offer simple aftercare suggestions, but nothing prescriptive or overwhelming. The goal is for you to leave feeling calmer, more at ease, and connected to your body.

FAQS

In this a spa or a clinic?

Neither. Just Breathe Massage Therapy is a one on one, relationship-based practice. Sessions are unhurried, quiet, and intentionally low-pressure. There’s no upselling, no membership model, and no expectation to book again unless it feels right for you.

I've never had a massage before - what if I'm nervous?

That’s completely okay. Many clients come in feeling unsure, especially if it’s their first massage or their first time working with a male therapist. We’ll move at your pace, talk things through beforehand, and check in as needed. Comfort and consent come first.

We will go over everything, so that there are no surprises and you can ask questions if something is unclear.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever is comfortable for arriving and leaving. During the massage, most clients undress to their comfort level. You’ll always be fully draped and respected.

How much pressure do you use?

Pressure is always collaborative. I generally work with a slower, intentional pressure that allows muscles to soften rather than forcing them to change. We’ll adjust throughout the session based on what feels best for you.

Do I need to talk during the session?

No. Some clients like quiet, others like light conversation. Both are welcome. You can change your mind at any point.

Is massage appropriate if I'm stressed, anxious, or emotionally overwhelmed?

Yes. Many people come specifically for that reason. Massage can be a helpful way to support the nervous system and create a sense of safety and rest—without needing to “do” anything.

How often should I come in?

Most people benefit from massage every 2–4 weeks, depending on stress levels, activity, and what your body needs. Once a week is ideal, although understandably it’s not possible for everyone. Even if you can commit to every other week or once a month, you’re sure to notice positive changes in your physical health and stress levels.  Together we can find a rhythm that supports your comfort, recovery, and overall well-being.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Just Breathe Massage Therapy is a private-pay practice. This allows sessions to stay focused, flexible, and relationship-driven rather than documentation-heavy.

What Should I Do If I Feel Uncomfortable During My Massage?

Speak up!

We’re intuitive people, but we’re not mind-readers. Always let me know if you need more or less pressure, if you’re too hot or too cold, or if you need to use the restroom. I’ll adjust pressure, positioning, or technique right away so the session feels safe and supportive for you.
